Tickets Only

Our 'Ticket Only' option is for independent travelers planning to explore Costa Rica by bus and want to secure their passage in advance. In making this selection we will go into San Jose to purchase your tickets then have them for you in Alajuela, five minutes from the airport, when you arrive. Then with 'ticket in hand' and seats reserved you simply go to the local bus stop catch your bus.

 Restricted to specific bus lines.

Pick Up and Deliver 

By far the most requested option for bus tickets is our 'Pick Up and Deliver' service.  It is the fastest, safest and easiest way to get from the airport to your bus.

In arranging for a 'Pick Up and Deliver' we purchase your tickets days in advance assuring you seats usually in the front rows of the bus.  Then we pick you up at the airport and take you to where you safely board.  

Before starting out, if time allows, we will take you to will take you to the bank, to purchase a phone card or an internet cafe, the market and local restaurant. We want to make sure you are prepared and well fed before starting your journey.

Private Transfer

When you order a Private Transfer we pick you up at the airport and take you directly to your Costa Rican destination. We are there when you flights arrives and you on your way in the matter of minutes.  

Since you have a Private Transfer feel free to ask your driver to stop at the market , go by the bank or pull over so that you can take a picture or stop at a restaurant so you can get something to eat.  Bring your CD's with your favorite music and we will provide a cooler for your refreshments.  At A Safe Passage we feel that the journey should be part of the fun.

Shuttle Reservation

We make reservations on the Gray Line and Interbus shuttles for our HomeBase clientele only.  In opting for a shuttle you can enjoy the local tropical scenery in air-conditioned comfort.  When you 'shuttle' you leave from your Alajuela HomeBase and are taken to the door of your hotel or resort.

HomeBase Plans

We designed our HomeBase plans to provide you with a safe, convenient and friendly lodging from where you start and finish your Costa Rican vacation. With the plan we include our short Walk-About tour that gives you the opportunity to get acclimated and a glimpse into the local 'Tico' way of life.  

We first let you make a one-minute phone call so that you can let love ones know you arrived safely.  Then we take you to the bank (ATM), an internet cafe, to get a phone card and to a restaurant where you can have a good and affordable meal. 

On the tour we will also take you to by the market where you can get purchase coffee for less than a dollar which you can purchase on your return.  And on the Walk-About we will try to answer the questions and address the concerns you might have about traveling in Costa Rica.

Journey International

Setting up a HomeBase and having us arrange your bus travel is a hassle-free way to reach your international destination.  With our Journey International plan we are able to secure travel to various Central America destinations up to two months in advance.
