...HomeBase

When you set up a HomeBase you can put your travel anxieties aside.  We will pick you up at the airport and provide you with safe and convenient lodging.  Once you drop off your bags you will be taken on our Walk-About tour which is designed to help acclimate you to the country and prepare you for your journey.

Time permitting, on our short tour and we head to the local Mercado, through the museum and to the central park where you can relax for a minute and enjoy some of the diversity of our natural resources.  We will stop by the bank*, an internet cafe, to purchase a phone card and end the tour at a local restaurant where delicious 'Tico' dinners are under $5 and the local beer is a bit over a buck.

Then after you had breakfast the next morning we will take you board your bus or catch the shuttle headed for your Costa Rica destination.

You return to the same bed and breakfast, hotel or hostel on the eve of your departure. Conveniently you will be no more than 10 minutes from the airport. If you have forgotten to get 'someone something' we can show you where you can buy coffee for less than a dollar a bag or Salsa Lizano to take home. There are also a souvenir outlet open until 7pm. And if you want someplace to enjoy your last 'Tico' meal we can give you a few recommendations.

Staying an extra day or two?

If you are staying an extra day or so we can help you set up a self-guided or independent tour.  With a one day tour you can explore the display of butterflies at the Butterfly Farm or Waterfall Gardens, watch artist paint Costa Rica's celebrated carts in Sarchi or learn about the history of coffee at a Cafe Britt tour.

Other options include a day kayaking at Lake Arenal, exploring a local town or just relaxing at a local family park where you can swim in pools feed by underground springs, play a little hoop with the locals or take a bus to Volcan Poas.  Self-guided and independent tours offer an inexpensive way to venture about on your own.
